Blue Planet 1.1 Now Available

Blue Planet 1.1 is now available on the Mac App Store. Here are the new features:

  • You can now hide the Dock icon and show the app in the menu bar. This was by far the most-requested feature.

  • You can take a snapshot of the current map and save it as an image file. Great for sharing via Twitter or Facebook. Here’s a sample snapshot:

  • The Preferences window got a third tab called “Time Lapse” which allows you to interactively play with date and time and see how the map changes over the course of a day or year.

  • Three new localizations: Spanish, French, and Japanese (in addition to English and German).

So far, the response to Blue Planet has been very positive and I think this update makes the app even more compelling. I want to thank everyone who has sent me feedback and feature requests. Keep them coming! Already, I have some great ideas for the next update.
